    El uso de las láminas viscoelásticas y su futuro en la construcción naval de embarcaciones planeadores de GFRP

    En las Islas Galápagos hay una flota importante de barcos de cabotaje para navegación entre islas, menores a 15 metros de eslora y construidas de plástico reforzado con fibra de vidrio (GFRP). Se presenta la propuesta de modificar los cascos de las nuevas naves que ingresen a operar en las islas con láminas viscoelásticas, con el propósito de protegerlas del daño producido por el fenómeno de slamming y aumentar su tiempo de vida útil. Mediante ensayos de fatiga por carga cíclica en los cuales se puede observar la evolución del daño a nivel del laminado y la caracterización de los resultados para comparar los niveles de microgrietas inducidas por los impactos, se verifica que la modificación introducida en el laminado disminuye notablemente los tiempos de reparación protegiendo al medio ambiente.

    Viscoelastic Layer Insertion to Reduce the Propagation of Energy by Vertical Impacts on GFRP Laminates

    The insertion of a viscoelastic layer is proposed to mitigate damage by vertical impact. For this purpose, unmodified GFRP panels and others modified with the viscoelastic sheet are made. The results of measuring the acceleration, doing vertical impacts on the panels, are to obtain the acceleration, the critical points of damage by characterizing with fluorescent penetrating inks in ultraviolet light, and the analysis of results with equations that allow obtaining the absorbed energy. The benefits of the modification are evaluated and its protection to the laminate is checked.
