Abstract

This article examines the problem of inattentions that occur at the time of performing the vehicle maintenance service in a company in the automotive sector. Currently, the inattentions represent monthly between 40% and 50% of the total number of car services, causing the payment of penalties by the company, which represents an economic loss of 25% with respect to its monthly income. The problem lies due to shortage of spare parts, as stock breaks occur due to improper planning and programming of supply. Therefore, to address the lack of spare parts, a proposal was developed that for preventive maintenance is based on the use of a Kanban System based on Pull principles, while for corrective maintenance an ABC system is used for the classification of spare parts in conjunction with an inventory system Model EOQ (Economic Purchase Lot) in order to define the minimum and maximum levels of inventories. This proposal aims to have auto parts availability through supply management by reducing the costs incurred in penalties by 77% by reducing the number of neglects by 61%, with an investment recovery period of 1 year.
